Stella is developing more and more words and phrases. An increase in language has seen an increase in demands. “I want yoghurt, I eat all my chips – I want get down, I want cup tea!” It is good being able to understand her needs more easily now.
When I am at home, she is my little shadow, saying “Hello, mummy!” about a thousand times a day. If I am busy with something, she sidles up to ask “Mummy, doing?” Running up for a cuddle, she jumps into my lap. As I put my arms around her she says, “I got you, mummy!” If something tickles her funny bone she laughs and looks to me to share in the joke, saying “Funny, mummy!”
More and more, I hear my voice coming out of her mouth “Careful!” “Noisy.”
Her love for Juno continues to grow. She loves to stick her face right into the cat’s and be tickled by her whiskers. Stella finds it hilarious when Juno flicks her tail, and tries to get it to brush her cheeks. It is lucky that our big mog has such a gentle temperament.
Counting is a big favourite. As we walk down the stairs she says, “1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!”
When Stella needs a nappy change, she says “Stinky buttocks!” I would like to blame this on the fact she spends so much time in her father’s company 😀
She is generally a happy little person, but is prone to bouts of negativity. She hasn’t the tenacity that Jet has always shown, becoming defeated after her first brief failed attempt and asking for help “I can’t reach! I can’t do it!” sometimes screaming in frustration or throwing herself or an offending object to the floor. “No” is a new favourite word.
Despite this, she is extremely positive most of the time. When she has completed a task or something impresses her, she exclaims, “Tada!” and things are often “Briyiyant!” or “‘Mazing!”
Finished getting the washing out of the machine, Stella has a “Tada!” moment.
She loves to sing. There are a lot of toddler favourites, the wheels on the bus, wind the bobbin up, her Monkey Music songs, but also Jet’s favourite Ian Dury and the Blockheads creep in. “What a Waste” and “Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick” often get stuck in her head.
Stella loves playing a silly game of ours, singing Twinkle Twinkle as fast as she can, whilst shaking her head from side to side at top speed. If we are both feeling brave, we will rub noses during this.
Like Jet at her age, she loves letters. Some of her favourite toys are the (infernal) letter factory and alphabet puzzles. She also finds magnetic letters delicious – I am forever taking them out of her mouth.
Stella loves to be outside (I can’t remember how she got this dirty!)
If she wants to start a conversation, she will point and say. Itemising the clothing she is wearing, “Skirt. Tights. Jumper. Stars on.” just naming body parts, “Head. Nose. Mowf.”and the still interchangeable “Eyes. Ears.” or demonstrating toys “Door. Open it!” “Buttons. Press, numbers!”
I think you must have a wrong number

Enjoyed this? I loved it. She sounds just so brilliant. For some reason…I’m blaming hormones…this also made me feel quite emotional. I think it was about her being your shadow, I’m not sure xx

Thank you lovely. It is so interesting to see the differences that can exist between your own children. Jet was never like that (strong attachments, independent child I hope, not just that he didn’t like me 😉 ) so I really appreciate her needing me so much. x

Awww how beautiful when she says I got you mummy, I bet that melts your heart. Your daughter is doing better counting then my youngest. He does go 1,2,1,2,1,2,1 lol X #ftmob

What a cutie! I love the photos, especially the “Tada” one! 🙂
“Stinky buttocks” made me cry with laughter! It reminds me of when my dad taught my son to say “ripper” after a trump!

Stinky buttocks-that is funny!
LOVE the ‘tada’ moments! My 13 month old is just learning to walk, and he LOVES to stand in the middle of the room, with his arms up like that, just smiling and giggling as we clap for him. It’s so fun watching them learn something new every day ❤ #KCACOLS

Stinky buttocks!!!!! I love it!! She is just so cute and adorable!! I love that she shouts ‘tada’ when she’s proud of herself! I loved the pictures where she’s all muddy, it’s great to see children covered in mud!! It sounds like she’s a fab little companion for you, following you, and wanting to know what you’re doing-just gorgeous!

Love your updates on Stella. “Stinky buttocks” made me laugh – what a funny way of asking for a nappy change. I love her counting and “tada” moments are always wonderful aren’t they? “Briyiyant” is a very adorable way of saying “brilliant.” Thank you for sharing with #ftmob 🙂

I might start saying “tada” whenever I do anything remotely impressive, but I don’t think I could pull it off like she does 😉
Thanks for hosting and for your lovely comment, as always xxx 🙂

Aw what a lovely little round-up and I think that we can all too easily forget how adorable our children sound when they try to pronounce words when they’re just learning to talk proper! #kcacols

What a little cutie! I bet life is a little easier now that your little one can tell you what she wants and needs, the way she pronounces her words is adorable!

Aw it’s the best (and worst haha) when they start to talk more. So cute and also you can understand their needs and actually chat with them. Love all the piccys of Stella. She seems to be doing really well!! Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst x

Yes, most of the time I can understand her, except the way she says ‘Chris’ (my husband’s name) sounds identical to the way she says ‘crisps’ and ‘kiss’, which can be a little confusing! Thanks for hosting x

Lovely development update. My daughter is at about the same stage. I find this one of their cutest and demanding stages because just like you said with their language development also comes more demands and more frustration when for some reason we don’t quite understand what they are trying to say… They come up with the most hilarious observations so that makes up for all the rest. #bigpinklink

A lovely age for sure, now she is constantly demanding an audience with me, saying “Mummy, mummy, mummy” whenever I so much as consider talking to someone else! x

Aww what a lovely update. How old is she? Sounds like she’s having a speech explosion. My son has a speech disorder so I’m always super excited whenever he says something new which is actually starting to become quite regular at last.

How sweet! ‘Stinky buttocks’ is brilliant – even better than Jet’s efforts, I think! & the fact that she’s singing ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’! My youngest likes counting & ‘tada’ too at the moment. Our cat would not stand for that sort of thing though, bless Juno. #fartglitter
