5 4 3 2 1 – Stella!

 

 

Stella is developing more and more words and phrases. An increase in language has seen an increase in demands. “I want yoghurt, I eat all my chips – I want get down,  I want cup tea!” It is good being able to understand her needs more easily now.

When I am at home, she is my little shadow, saying “Hello, mummy!” about a thousand times a day. If I am busy with something, she sidles up to ask “Mummy, doing?” Running up for a cuddle, she jumps into my lap. As I put my arms around her she says, “I got you, mummy!” If something tickles her funny bone she laughs and looks to me to share in the joke, saying “Funny, mummy!”

More and more, I hear my voice coming out of her mouth “Careful!” “Noisy.”

Her love for Juno continues to grow. She loves to stick her face right into the cat’s and be tickled by her whiskers. Stella finds it hilarious when Juno flicks her tail, and tries to get it to brush her cheeks. It is lucky that our big mog has such a gentle temperament.

Counting is a big favourite. As we walk down the stairs she says, “1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!”

When Stella needs a nappy change, she says “Stinky buttocks!” I would like to blame this on the fact she spends so much time in her father’s company 😀

She is generally a happy little person, but is prone to bouts of negativity. She hasn’t the tenacity that Jet has always shown, becoming defeated after her first brief failed attempt and asking for help “I can’t reach! I can’t do it!” sometimes screaming in frustration or throwing herself or an offending object to the floor. “No” is a new favourite word.

Despite this, she is extremely positive most of the time. When she has completed a task or something impresses her, she exclaims, “Tada!” and things are often “Briyiyant!” or “‘Mazing!”

Finished getting the washing out of the machine, Stella has a “Tada!” moment.

She loves to sing. There are a lot of toddler favourites, the wheels on the bus, wind the bobbin up, her Monkey Music songs, but also Jet’s favourite Ian Dury and the Blockheads creep in. “What a Waste” and “Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick” often get stuck in her head.

Stella loves playing a silly game of ours, singing Twinkle Twinkle as fast as she can, whilst shaking her head from side to side at top speed. If we are both feeling brave, we will rub noses during this.

Like Jet at her age, she loves letters. Some of her favourite toys are the (infernal) letter factory and alphabet puzzles. She also finds magnetic letters delicious – I am forever taking them out of her mouth.

Stella loves to be outside (I can’t remember how she got this dirty!)

If she wants to start a conversation, she will point and say. Itemising the clothing she is wearing, “Skirt. Tights. Jumper. Stars on.” just naming body parts, “Head. Nose. Mowf.”and the still interchangeable “Eyes. Ears.” or demonstrating toys “Door. Open it!” “Buttons. Press, numbers!”
